EcoStyle Welcomes University of Bristol Intern
EcoStyle is pleased to welcome University of Bristol graduate Amy Ruffley to undertake a summer internship. Amy has recently completed an undergraduate degree in Engineering Design at the university, a course which aims to develop high calibre engineers who can lead complex engineering projects.
Amy will be developing a group project undertaken during the course supported by EcoStyle, in preparation for running pilot sessions in a school in September.
Amy explained: ‘Over the past two years, I worked on a group project at the University of Bristol to develop a STEM competition where participants compete to produce as much energy as possible using renewables. Working with EcoStyle, we developed a working prototype that allowed their solar panel and wind turbine to store energy, which could be used to power a small electric vehicle.’
The internship is funded by the University of Bristol’s SME Internship Scheme, which enables students to gain quality, paid work experience from small and medium sized employers (SMEs) in the UK.
Amy continued: ‘Throughout the internship, I'm looking forward to developing the prototypes further, as well as involvement with the marketing and business aspects of the competition.’
